CHRISTMAS WREATH MAKING EVENING
Sunday 11th December 2022
From 17:00 to 19:00 Prompt Start
Village Hall, Catherington
12” Door Wreath making session that provides/includes everything you need – kindly led by Julie Crang.
Places must be booked in advance. Please reserve your place using CVRATickets@elitemail.org since numbers are restricted and will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Admission: £10 per wreath, payable on the door.
Please feel free to bring Christmas baubles, lights, cinnamon sticks, dried orange segments, or whatever you would like to have on your own wreath.
Please bring holly if you have some in your garden.
On the evening of Sunday, 11 December several village members and friends gathered in the Village Hall for a Christmas Wreath Making event very kindly led and tutored by Julie Crang.
Upon arrival – there was a real buzz of excitement in the air. Residents who had holly covered with either red or yellow berries and variegated varieties generously had brought this along to be used by everyone.
Julie provided us all with the basic wreath rings and wire and then started by showing us how to start making the wreath with pieces of Christmas tree branches. The concentration on everyone’s faces – some finding this task easier than others – was clear. We were then shown how to add holly – and then how to personalise the wreath with pine cones, berries, bows and ribbons.
Julie kindly came around us all – giving much need support and help and demonstrated where necessary.
Everyone left with their own personal wreath – some to be displayed on gates and doors, others for table decorations and also for a family member’s grave.
For all those present – we are extremely grateful to both Nick and Julie as Nick kept everyone in good spirits with mulled wine and Julie with her expert tuition and patience.
On Sunday 04 December 2022 at 5.00 pm Catherington residents and families began gathering around the Village Christmas Tree for the annual Carol Singing.
Upon arrival – warm mulled wine, deliciously warm freshly made sausage rolls and cheese puffs were handed out to welcome everyone and to start the evening off.
The Salvation Army led us all with their music and carol selection and also narrated some wonderful Christmas stories which brought much cheer to us all.
As a “Thank You” to the Salvation Army those present generously donated and we raised over £180.
Catherington Village Residents’ Association 2022 Annual General Meeting will be held on Friday 18th November at The Village Hall located behind the infant School at 7:30 p.m.

The ceremony will be attended by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson, The King’s representative in the county.
The Catherington Village Residents’ Association are going to bury a “Time Capsule” containing 70 items that have been in use during the late HM Queen Elizabeth II’s incredible reign.
Horndean Parish Council have kindly given permission for it to be buried in Old School Field on Catherington Lane (opposite the pond).

It is anticipated that the capsule will remain buried for 70 years and will be a reminder of how things were. It will also contain accounts of how Catherington celebrated HM Queen Elizabeth ll Platinum Jubilee in 2022 together with pictures of residents.
If you are intending to attend the ceremony please aim to arrive in good time before it starts at 10:00. Parking may be difficult, and I would suggest that those of us who live within walking distance should come on foot.
