  • Monthly get together at The Farmer

    The Farmer Inn
    The Farmer Inn

On the first Wednesday of the month from 8 pm members of CVRA have an informal get together at The Farmer . It’s a great way to catch up with neighbours and meet other village residents, both new and longstanding.

It is not a “meeting” and there is no agenda. This is simply designed to be an opportunity for us all to meet up with, and enjoy the company of fellow CVRA members.

Likewise, if you are not yet a member or are new to the village, do come along and say hello.

  • Sunday 25th June – Catherington Big Lunch

Big Lunch 17 flyerTickets are on sale for the Catherington Big Lunch this year which will take place on Sunday 25th June

There will be a Hog Roast included in the ticket price and live music to get everyone into the swing. Other activities will include Steam Train Rides, Pillow Jousting, Treasure Hunt and Games, as well as the annual Catherington Tug of War.

Everything kicks off at midday in the field next to The Farmer Inn (The Donkey Field). Everyone is encouraged to bring a “pudding to share” so roll up those sleeves and get baking.

Tickets are £7 for adults (reduced to £5 for paid up CVRA members) and £3 for children. Drinks may be purchased from the Farmer Inn.

Tickets can be purchased from members of the committee, by contacting us through the website or emailing CVRATickets@EliteMail.Org

Don’t delay as numbers are limited and the event was sold out well in advance last year.

It will be unveiled at 15 Glamorgan Road at 11:30 on Monday 17th October 2016 by Baron Ashdown of Norton-sub-Hamdon, more usually known as Lord Paddy Ashdown, a former Commando in the SBS.  The event will also be attended by the Deputy Commandant of the Royal Marines, Brigadier Richard Spencer  OBE ADC, and other serving & past members of the Royal Marines.

  • “Blondie” Haslar talk – 9th October 2016

On the evening of Sunday last 9th October 2016, at the Church Hall, Bill Evershed gave an excellent talk on Lt. Col. H.G. “Blondie” Haslar DSO OBE CdeG RM, who lived in Catherington.

It was a great compliment to Bill that the event sold out within a day or two of being published in the last Catherington Village Newsletter.  Very many thanks to Bill, his family and the other helpers on the night; particularly East Hampshire District Councillor Sara Schillemore, who was the organiser of the event.
