Catherington Village Time Capsule – 11th October 2022

  • Off

CVRA have assembled a “Time Capsule” which will be buried in Old School Field, Catherington Lane at 10:00 on Tuesday 11th October:-

The ceremony will be attended by HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hampshire, Mr Nigel Atkinson, The King’s representative in the county.

The Catherington Village Residents’ Association are going to bury a “Time Capsule” containing 70 items that have been in use during the late HM Queen Elizabeth II’s incredible reign.

Horndean Parish Council have kindly given permission for it to be buried in Old School Field on Catherington Lane (opposite the pond).

Children from Catherington Infant School, Kingscourt School and Horndean Middle School will be joining us, and everyone is welcome to come and watch.

It is anticipated that the capsule will remain buried for 70 years and will be a reminder of how things were. It will also contain accounts of how Catherington celebrated HM Queen Elizabeth ll Platinum Jubilee in 2022 together with pictures of residents.

If you are intending to attend the ceremony please aim to arrive in good time before it starts at 10:00.  Parking may be difficult, and I would suggest that those of us who live within walking distance should come on foot.

It is anticipated that the ceremony will take approximately half an hour and those attending are invited back to Catherington Church of England Infant School for tea or coffee.
